KART - magazine of multiplicity

KART is an edition of original artworks in a handcrafted folio box.

Curated by David Dellafiora at Karingal Community Living, KART is produced in limited editions of 40, each box containing 15 artworks.

You are invited to contribute to KART

Artists, writers, graphic designers, students, print makers, cartoonists, photographers, badge and zine makers, mail artists and members of the community are invited to contribute to KART.

To participate, send:

· 40 x artworks (originals or multiples)

· postcard size or smaller (16 x 11 cm x .25 cm)

No organic materials or traces please.

ReSite

Re – a prefix indicating repetition.

Site – the place where some activity or event takes place.

ReSite is a new assembling publication with a difference. All pages are to be conceived as having an element of audience participation or interaction. Works could take the form of scores, instructions, or interventions to be realized by the reader.

Send 40 copies size 21cm x14.8cm (A5). Copies have to be flat and landscape format. Please leave 2cms on the left hand side for the binding.

Bound In Yellow - Collaborative Wallpaper Swatch Book Workshop

This one-day workshop complements ‘The Assembling Book as a democratic vehicle’. Its focus will be the creation of a collaborative publication, Bound In Yellow, produced in an edition of 25. The edition will take the form of a wallpaper swatch book. Workshop participants will create their own set of pages to be included in the edition. The workshop will take the form of a working artist studio, with participants contributing their art making skills to the collective experience.

The title Bound in Yellow is a reference to ‘yellow’ as a concept. Yellow was adopted by the 19^th French decadent movement to indicate artifice and “immorality” and the colour was used in publications such as the Yellow Book periodical of the 1890s. In Osar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, the book that has a major corrupting influence on Dorian is described as ‘the yellow book’. In Robert W. Chambers’ The King in Yellow the characters are condemned by the yellow sign. The colour was also used as a trade mark for Italian mystery novels, known as Giallo, and is beautifully referenced in Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wall-Paper.
