ReSite no.2/ vol.2- hot off the press! Happy Walburga's Eve

ReSite – Manual of Scores, Manifestos & Radical Actions

ReSite for Revolt! With a cover image from Lindsay Anderson’s IF…, actions reclaiming the name of FLUXUS and a Royal Wedding score played with submachine gun, this issue of ReSite calls for your engagement.

ReSite is an assembling publication where pages have an element of audience participation or interaction. ReSite is part of the tradition of Fluxus editions where anyone can perform an action or score. In addition to this performance-based approach, ReSite taps into the rich tradition of the avant-garde with contributions of manifestos and documentation of art actions.

ReSite encourages participation by writers and musicians to produce visual scores and manifestos as well as continuing the call for contributions by conceptual artists. In this current issue you will find actions to be performed with Bananas and Bluetooth, have the opportunity to take part in Truth mail art exhibition, and search for the hidden surprise in Harriet Skillen’s pattern work.

If you are visiting London in the next few months, the V&A Museum, National Art Library is hosting the exhibition Field Study International: Emanations of a Collective Spirit in Art from April 4th – September 5th 2011 which has a number of ReSite issues on display.

Field Report 2010 hot off the press!

The Journal Of Field Study International

Reflecting K. Frank Jensen’s a year of contemplation, the cover of this year’s Field Report looks back over its history of plastic comb bindings and to the future with a new wire binding. This edition sees the spirit of Fluxus alive and well through contributions such as Vittore Baroni’s ART DETOX project, Anna Banana’s Celebrating 40 years of fooling around with A. Banana event and Keith A. Buchholz’s full Fluxus program.

Psychogeography features strongly in this edition, with documents ranging from Julian Beere’s Walthamstow project to Carol Stetser’s Written on the Road. This edition also includes documents of recent public art in Geelong, including Street Face, a participatory project by Geelong’s multicultural organisation Diversitat with City of Greater Geelong Youth Development Unit, and Re-Configure, an installation by Mark Cuthbertson and David Dellafiora for the UCI Road World Championships plus Geelong Arts Alliance’s Street Salon.

2010 saw Field Study returning to the Fermoy Gallery, site of the Art of the Surreal Field Study residency in 1994, with a display of WIPE magazines at docment/a, King’s Lynn UK. Other Field Study activities included an artist-talk and workshop, Bound In Yellow, at Focus on Artists’ Books V at Artspace Mackay, Queensland Australia.

If you are visiting London in the next few months, the V&A Museum, National Art Library is hosting the exhibition Field Study International: Emanations of a Collective Spirit in Art from April 4th – September 5th 2011.

Again a thank you to all networkers who sent postcards, envelopes and foldouts with their emanations, as this ephemera reinforces the special nature of an assembling publication, providing interaction and pleasure to the reader. My thanks for their support of this edition go to Susan Hartigan, Geelong’s Youth Development Unit, Geelong Arts Alliance, NoFrillsArt, and the Ruth and Marvin Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry.

Photographs of Field Study display at V&A

Field Study International

April 4 – Sept. 5

National Art Library Entrance

V&A Museum

South Kensington

London

Field Study began in 1993 started by David Dellafiora, Eamonn Kirwan and Benedict Phillips. During the following years, artists from different countries joined the initiative, becoming a truly international group. One of their main aims is that everyone is welcome to become a member, irrespective of their arts practice, and to contribute. Field Study sees work by individual artists as emanations and collective work as manifestations and was originally influenced by the Surrealist and Fluxus movements.

The annual Field Study International Journal was their first publication, but throughout the years the group has developed new assembling periodicals such as WIPE, ReSite and in collaboration with the Australian Disability Support Service Karingal - KART. A selection of this material will be on show.

Also on display there will be works by Erica Van Horn, Patricia Collins and Benedict Phillips as the ‘Agresiv Dislecksick’, with artwork revolving around his dyslexia. He will be giving a special lunchtime lecture on Wednesday July 27 in the V&A Sackler Centre.
