The
Journal Of Field Study International
Welcome to 100th anniversary of the Russian
Revolution and the creation of Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, brought together on
the cover of the 2017 Field Report.
Museum of lost Public Notices created an alternative gallery
for alternative public notices while a number of milestones were reached in
2017. These include the last issue of Susanna Lakner’s 22 assembling
publication and the 10th anniversary of Claudio Romeo’s Dododada and
No Frills Art Publications’ Mash Up Zines.
Poetry, poetical references and text are prominent in a
number of works – The Tree of Poetry complements the Poeme pour Field Study,
while Benedict Phillips starts an exploration of the magical qualities of
language. Text also is examined as an action (The Long March Extended) and as a
line of thought (which leads to walking).
Siggi Liersch celebrated assembling publications with
Installation of a Mail Artist while there was also a re-enactment of Homage to
Vera Mukhina
The abject also features, in deteriorating candy and flattened
sculptures. Looking down, “art is where you find it” or maybe it is “deadly
work underground”. Cooper Spowart look down in search of spiral jetty and a
salamander crosses Renée Magaña’s path.
Field Study was active in a number of events including
Festival of the Photocopier Zine Fair, NGV Melbourne Art Book Fair,
Tonerpalooza 2 at State Library Victoria and Alembic Books were at Falmouth Art
Publishing Fair. Field Study publications were also showcased in the travelling
exhibition, Self-Made-Zines and Artist Books.
