Wipe
Wipe is a small assembling publication in which toilet paper is the medium. The use of a nonarchival, indeed anti-archival medium, is intentional, with the ephemerality and fragility of the medium insharp contrast with the artistic concern for archival materials. Conceived as a playful lightweight publication to circumvent postage costs, Wipe nods to Duchamp’s urinal and challenges contributors to make work on a medium that is almost anti-art.

Contributors source their own toilet paper, a source of fascination in itself and a comment on the hygiene practices of different societies. In spite of its intended ephemerality, toilet paper allows rubberstamping, stitching, collaging, and even frottaging. When 20 contributions are received, Wipe is distributed to participants by mail. KART 43 hot off the press!

KART Magazine Of Multiplicity

Welcome to the 43rd issue of KART, an instant art collection in a box! The image on this issue has an Australian theme with a depiction of the iconic Melbourne street signage of Skipping Girl Vinegar.

KART magazine is an assembling publication created to promote artistic and cultural diversity. KART is an ongoing project with no deadlines, and work is accepted on a continuing basis. KART is produced in limited editions of 40, each box containing works by 15 artists. This 43^rd issue is a bumper edition with 18 artists.

KART is published as a collaboration between Karingal Participate and Field Study International.

ReSite – Manual of Scores, Manifestos & Radical Actions

Well, Australia has a new government and its international relations are already at an all time low. Field Study hopes to counterbalance this with a multicultural issue of ReSite! As with past ReSites, the traditions of Fluxus are alive and well in such works as JF Chapelle & Horst Baur’s re-workings of the Fluxus manifesto, to Reed Altemus’ documentation of his version of Foam Book by Geoffrey Hendricks. This is a time for No More Dictatorships as expressed by Lubomyr Tymkiv, so maybe rather then use your Donkey Vote stamps, it might be time to call on Dirty Harry to clean up the garbage!

ReSite is an assembling publication where pages have an element of audience participation or interaction. ReSite is part of the tradition of Fluxus editions where anyone can perform an action or score. In addition to this performance-based approach, ReSite taps into the rich tradition of the avant-garde with contributions of manifestos and documentation of art actions.

ReSite encourages participation by writers and musicians to produce visual scores and manifestos as well as continuing the call for contributions by conceptual artists. Please pass on the word to anyone who would like to be in future issues.

Günther Ruch (1942-2013)

Günther Ruch (1942, Bernburg, Germany) – network artist, lingua-artist, publisher. After studies in Stuttgart (1959-62) and in Basel (1963-66) where he majored in Graphic Design, he worked in the area of fine arts. He was the founder and head (jointly with C. Ruch) of the “Atelier R” gallery, that focuses on the alternative trends in the contemporary art, he was also the organiser of the “Out Press” publishing house (since 1973). He was the editor of the“Clinch” magazine (1982-88), one of the key editions of the Internatonal Network Culture of the 1980s, that brought together about 400 participants from 35 countries. Ruch was the author and initiator of a great number of artistic and exhibitional projects, including the following ones: Idea & Communication (Commonpress #36, 1979-80), MA-Congress 86 (1986-87), Mail Art / PTT-Museum (1994), Direct (Galerie Forde, 1995), Sound & Mailbox (1998) and others. He has published some materials on the contemporary network culture, such as: MA-Congress 86 (1987), Clinch - 25000 stamps & stickers (1992), Schenkung – 100 Künstlerbriefmarkenbogen (PTT-Museum & Out Press, 1992), Schweizer MA Szene 1970-80 (1993), Fragmente – visuelle & tonale experimente (2000). He conducted around twenty solo exhibitions in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Belgium, USA and Japan. He presented his sound poetry programs and performances at various international exhibitions and festivals both in Switzerland and abroad, including such as: Flux-concert (Geneva-Lausanne, 1977), Audio-Art (Lucerne, 1978), Dada-recital (Geneva, 1979), Audio (Stockholm, 1983), Phone-Call (Peney, 1985), Administration-screams (Hasselt, 1989), AB Sound (Bern, 1994) and others. Since 1975 till 1990 he took part in more than 300 group exhibitions, acted as a member of “Ecart” and “The Nomads” perform-groups. He was very active in the area of video art, having created numerous video shows at various European institutions. Since the 1970s he had been deeply involved in the area of stamp art, participating in international exhibitions all over the world. Ruch’s creative activities have been commented on in a great number of articles in international magazines and catalogues, his innovative practice in the area of the contemporary art is the subject for consideration in numerous anthologies and theoretical editions in various countries. Since 1970 he had been living and working in Geneva (Switzerland).
